Sumac Chicken – The best chicken ever

When I don’t know what to make and don’t really have dinner plans – this is my go to way to prep chicken cause it’s always good, always easy, and always a high protein add to any dish. Ignore the poor photo quality – I’ll retake and update the picture next time I make it lol!

Ingredients

  • 1.5 lbs chicken breast, thin is best

  • 4 tbsp sumac

  • Salt to taste

  • Optional: 1-2 tsp cumin

Directions

  • Preheat oven to 375 if baking. If searing skip to step 2.
  • Season chicken with sumac, salt, and optional cumin. The sumac should coat the whole chicken breast. Rub in the spices with your hands. Allow to marinate for as little as you’d like or up to 24 hours.
  • If baking in the oven, transfer chicken to a baking dish and bake until no longer pink. How long will depend on the size of your chicken breast.
  • If pan frying add 2 tbsp olive oil to a pan over medium heat. Add chicken to the pan and cook for ~5-9 minutes on each side – again depending on the size of your chicken breast.
  • The chicken is done on both occasions when the center is just no longer pink. Allow to rest for ~5 minutes before serving. Enjoy!
